HAPPY DAY!!!

It feels good to no longer live in fear regarding the direction of our country. To actually be proud of America. It's a happy day!!

New Work Doodle...

I really like the paper from this sketchbook. I think someone gave it to me for my birthday. Colored pencils show up amazing on it. So vibrant. Very cool!

Laura and the dead fish...

Doesn't she have "crazy face" going on in this picture? She's such a quirky goofer! I'm talking about Laura not the dead fish...

More cool photos from the Lake

Fluffy is hilarious!

My crazy cat loves to sleep on her face. It cracks me up everytime she does it. How can she even breath!

Simon relaxin'!

Simon loves his orange blanky! I think he was watching something on Animal Planet when I took this picture. Probably Meercat Manor.

Hey, isn't that Treebeard!

This Saturday was so gorgeous out that I convinced by roomies to go to the park for a while. And I took about a million photos of all the trees and leaves. But I especially liked this one because it totally looks like this tree has a face. He's totally an Ent!

Another new work drawing!

Gold Fish not Nemo!

I was working on this drawing at work today and one of my co-workers asked "Oh, is that Nemo?" I almost stabbed him in the eye with my pencil. Ok, not really. I'm not quite that rageful. But it is clearly a gold fish and everyone knows that Nemo is a clown fish. I'm a little worried about my co-worker actually because he just became a dad. He needs to have this kind of thing down. Rookie mistake.

All moved in!

So I thought it might kill me but we did successfully move all of our stuff into the new place. We aren't completely unpacked but we are getting there. I'm excited because for the first time I'm actually trying to organize my bedroom so that it looks like a grown-up lives there and not an unemployed college student.
I really think the wall colors came out nicely. The whole room was a beigey-brown. I painted one wall this awesome blue and it looks great. Once I have my room finished, I'll post another photo.

Fluffy and Simon

I own two of the cutest cats in the world! They have been adapting pretty well to the move. I think they enjoy all the space. Simon (the blond one in the window) and my housemate Laura are becoming best friends.

Doodle of the day

Here's my doodle that I did at work. It's a mixed media of Sharpie, Highlighter and White-Out!

Tattoo design for a friend

A friend at work has been asking me for a while to help him with a design for a tattoo he wants. I had no idea if I could do it or not. He gave me an image that was really similar to this and I just drew my own variation. I have to admit I have never draw anything like this before but it came out pretty cool. He's not getting the tattoo until October when he goes on his annual or maybe bi-annual trip to Vegas. I'll post a picture of the actual tattoo when he gets back.

I'm pretty sure that he is going to opt for the black, white, and red version but I wanted to give him options! By the look on his face when I showed him the pink one, he really appreciated my thoughtfulness.

Here is my lastest work doodle. I've been calling it "Alien Flowers".

Socks and Rocks!

So, why did I name my blog "Socks and Rocks"? Well, to be honest it's because it was available and I thought it sounded kind of cool. But then I thought about it some more and realized that it could have a deeper meaning. Socks and rocks are objects that many people ignore in everyday life but they are actually both awesome!

I live in Minnesota so I can fully appreciate socks. They keep my feet warm and cozy through the 5 or 6 month long winter. Plus they are an excellent form of expression. They can be crazy striped knee socks or rainbow toe socks (which are my favorite)! They can be cotton, fleece or even cashmere.

Now rocks. My family is crazy about them. Especially my sister, who once a year makes me spend hours and hours on the North Shore looking for agates. Rocks are amazing because they are little chunks of history of our planet. They could be hundreds or even thousands of years old. Some rocks even contain fossils which really gets my nerdy heart thumping! They are also awesome to climb on! Just ask my nephew.
